on friday we got to hang out with sol, susan, cain, ayah and nettle, on their way from petersburg, alaska to new england for the winter. we first met them all the summer aaron and i lived in petersburg, when they were skiffing through southeast alaska looking for a community to settle down in. we had a nice evening with them before they left for their journeys north. since then, they've come back to petersburg and are building a cabin on kupreanof island, across from the town. they're headed back east now to spend time with their families for the winter.
noah and i picked them up at the ferry terminal, and it was exciting to see the huge "matanuska" come in and dock. i told noah we could just hop right on and head up to see andy, jenny, maia and little blaise. he seemed up for it! maybe one of these days...
