two cool links to share: emusic and peekvid
andrew and jess told us about emusic, which apparently they heard about from sarah carlson-lier. it's a music download service, similar to the itunes store, but there's a free trial period offer with 30 free downloads. andrew downloaded lots of jazz. i downloaded some new neko case, hem and this awesome faux-eastern european band called beirut. i let aaron have one song, and he picked bach's "chaccone." he's getting pretty fancy these days.
the emusic selection isn't as extensive as itunes, but you can't complain about free music! i cancelled our trial within the 15 days and everything was free.
we found out about peekvid last weekend from colin, who had been using it to watch current episodes of "the office," which he knew we also love. it's a free streaming tv (and movie and cartoon) site, with tons of current shows, as well as classics like "the wonder years"! it's probably sketchy and maybe not legal, but my policy is not to think too much about where the videos come from. we watched a couple of "office" episodes over the weekend, but since then somehow "the office" no longer seems to be available. maybe nbc got mad, which i suppose makes sense. but there are still lots of other shows to choose from.

Thanks for the heads up re: Beirut. I've had them in my itunes for godonlyknows how long but I never really gave them a good listen. You inspired me to give them another shot, and I'm quite enjoying myself.
Currently, they're reminding me very much of an ultra chill version of one of my favorite albums: The Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.
Yeah, that album is as crazy as it's title would indicate. From what I hear, It's a concept album based on the life of Anne Frank.
Rock stars. Go figure.
